Brandee Paisano at Heartland Cafe

WSAW Thursday June 13th, 6-9pm

Brandee Paisano is a humanitarian and backpacker who recently called Seattle home. Her desire for culture, photography and travel started from her youth, being raised with the Inupiat culture in Alaska to the Shoshone Paiute Tribes in Nevada. In 2000 she joined the US NAVY for what she likes to say, “a little more adventure.” During this time the ups and downs of the world really inspired her to look into Photojournalism. Brandee was drawn to the works of Lewis Hine, Robert Capa and James Nachtwey.

The emotion brought on by their work was something she wanted to try, but with a twist. The romantic feeling of film and old newspapers and magazines is what she likes to keep alive in her images. She enjoys shooting with the idea of adding age to her work. Her photographs vary with a bit of edge, softness and simplicity. She studied Photography at The Art Institute of Seattle and graduated in 2009.
