Puny Picture Show at Wallflower Framing

Jessica Dolence at Brunette Mix

Local artist Jessica Dolence is a Seattle implant who moved from desert landscapes to the west coast in search of water. Upon arrival she began collecting images of local ocean horizons and paired them with her interest in popular hair culture and fashion. These new digital "drawings" are infused with thoughts of water deities and embellishments from the sea.

Sarah Cochran at 8 Limbs Yoga

Curiosity is the main motive behind my creations. Passion and experimentation help to refine and expand those skills. Each piece and method is chosen by its ability to explore the variety of influences that excite me. Whether that inspiration comes from nature, technology, or fantasy.

I am currently exploring abstract black and white illustrations, macro photography, and watercolor while residing in West Seattle. The progression of my art and abilities includes merging abstract textures and detailed organic lines with the glow and unpredictability of watercolor. Visit my website for a peek at the vibrant and whimsical Abominably Beautiful Creatures watercolor series and links to more art.

Javier Orttega at Cupcake Royale

Javier S. Ortega was born in Seville Spain where he was trained in sculpture in the "Escuela de Artes Aplicadas" and ceramics in the "Escuela Taller Plaza España". After this he traveled to Florence to continue his education. Upon completion, his time was divided between the cities of Seville, Valencia and the island of Menorca before deciding to move to the city of Seattle. Here he is continuing his career with successful exhibitions in some of the cafes and galleries scattered around said city.

The artist will be providing snacks and wine during the art walk.

Katrina Yakovich at Shadowland

Artist Statement for Katrina Yakovich:
I am influenced by my community, life experiences, the city, the region, and the world. (Admittedly, it is a broad spectrum.) Sometimes I have an idea, thought or dream, and paint from that point of view. Other times something from the newspaper catches my eye. I take bad pictures with my cell phone or camera and work out how to make a painting from it. I have no one influence, no singular message, and no obsessive passion except for life.

bin 41: photography by Ben Shaevitz

ART WALK TASTING, Thursday, December 8th from 6-9 pm.
New art by local West Seattleite, Ben Shaevitz
Join us for a joyous art walk as we welcome back local artist, Ben Shaevitz. Ben was the very first artist we featured after we opened in the spring of 2010. We’re happy to have him back to share new photos in his portfolio. Ben has been taking pictures for more than 25 years. Having previously worked as a photojournalist, he has started focusing on photographing live music. This exhibit showcases work from a variety of shows and festivals, and hightlights the interaction between the hands of the musicians and their instruments. Check out Ben’s website at http://gallery.me.com/ben.shaevitz

To complement Ben’s work, we’ll be showcasing a medley of holiday worthy wines including Owen Roe’s Ex Umbris. This wine just landed at #25 in the top 100 wines by Wine Spectator this month. We regularly had this wine in stock. However with the recent status, we will have our last two cases on hand this Thursday...and then it’s sold out. This is a great wine at $25 and will make any holiday recipient very happy!

Rachel Austin's Cartography Series at Click!

Rachel Austin's Cartography Series at Click!  is inspired by a love of maps and the beautiful shapes in the landscape from above.  These paintings represent the Puget Sound and Portland geography in a recognizable yet abstract way.  Several pieces utilize paper maps or other colorful papers to add pattern and depth to the thick layers of acrylic paint.  Framed in a handmade inset wooden frame stained American Pine.

We depend on the seafarers to bring us essential cargo, however it is the 3rd most hazardous occupation.  These seafarers work in brutal weather, they are isolated within the confines of the ship, struggle with language barriers, and spend months away from family while battling the natural elements of the sea and sometimes even piracy.

Jesse Link & Drink Specials at Locöl!

I'm a Seattle New-Brow Artist. I'm inspired by urban culture, the immense wilderness of the Pacific Northwest and the contradiction between the two. Seattle is a perfect example of that contradiction. It's a bustling urban city completely surrounded by the incredible wilderness. It has to be one of the few cities in the United States were you can see bald eagles on your morning bike ride to the coffee shop. It's the balance of two completely contradictory forces that I seek to achieve in my work. Urban is my style of painting with use of aerosols, stencils, textile prints and a bold color palette combined to create beautiful images of animals and a spirit of nature. I use distress and decay and then balance it with aesthetic beauty and the individual narrative of the piece.

Allison Moore & Green Gifts at Nature Consortium

Allison Moore, local Sculptor/Potter and Tile Designer-Producer creates lively textures and forms of her favorite creatures and symbols, expressed in intricate detail.  The aim is to inspire conservation and protection of biologically sound & ecologically diverse habitats through the development of sustainable lifestyle practices.

Jo Gershman & Port Tasting at West Seattle Cellars!

West Seattle artist and illustrator Jo Gershman shares her love of storytelling and her passion for food in these elaborately composed meditations on Earth's natural bounty.  Each watercolor painting relates to a specific season or place, portrayed in loving detail with an added twist -- the images appear to be painted on glazed tile. This trompe l'oeil device recalls the remarkable depth of detail in medieval illuminated manuscripts.

This month's Art Walk Thursday, December 8, is the night of our annual Port tasting. Just in time for the holidays, we will be tasting through an inviting line-up of sumptuous winter warmers from Porto Kopke and Porto Rocha. Enjoy Jo's watercolors while you sample the Ports. (They make great holiday gifts!)

Arts West presents Quotidian Dreams

Woodinville artist, Gary Greene has worked as a professional artist continuously since 1967. While working in varied media from traditional to digital, colored pencil has been his true passion since 1983.

Patri O’Connor is principally a landscape painter who populates her landscapes with people – a solitary figure walking on the beach, two lovers in a garden, a running figure on a cloud-shrouded morning. Her oils on canvas interpret, rather than represent, creating a dreamlike quality.

Victoria Raymond creates low-relief sculptures from repurposed materials that include fabrics, plastics, beads, Polyform, cast-off jewelry, yarn and ceramics. Her compositions offer a riot of color and texture combining abstraction and narration.

Kristen Reitz-Green loves food. She loves to paint larger than life portraits of it, in great detail. The Vashon artist is a graduate of The Julliard School, with a Master of Music degree for French Horn Performance. In 2006, she set down her horn and began a career as a visual artist, creating oils on canvas and panels.

bin 41 December Holiday Pet Drive

If you haven't heard of the Old Dog Haven...take a peek at their website. What this organization is doing is truly admirable. After losing Jasmine this summer, it just tears us up to think of an elder dog losing his/her home. We're so thankful for such good people like this group out there helping these sweet, amazing dogs in need. We'd be truly appreciative if you could help spread the word of our holiday pet drive to get needed items to for these pets and their foster/forever refuge home peeps. I attached a graphic I put together if that is useful for posting in both jpg and pdf format. Thanks so much for posting!

Holiday pet drive!
Please join us in helping animals in need this holiday season. Having lost our senior Rottie this summer and with our other 11-year old dog at home, our awareness has turned to the growing number of senior dogs in need of a loving, caring home for their final refuge. In loving memory of Jasmine this holiday season, we would like to reach out to the good folks at the Old Dog Haven,http://www.olddoghaven.org/ , to collect items to help them care for their dogs in need. The Old Dog Haven is a network of private homes helping western Washington's homeless senior dogs. Some of their dogs are with caring foster homes for their final refuge. They also have others available for adoption if you have room and the ability to give to an older dog in need of his/her final loving home.

They currently have plenty of blankets and toys for the dogs, but have provided an in depth wish list of critical items needed via this link to their website: http://www.olddoghaven.org/WishList.htm . It is important to keep the dogs on a consistent diet. Please review the list before purchasing food or supplement items for donation. Our holiday pet drive will kick-off this Friday with collection boxes in the hall outside our space. Bring in a donation item to either our Friday evening or Saturday afternoon (details below) wine tastings…and the tasting fee is on us as a thank you for your generosity! We will also be accepting kitty donations as well and will work with the good folks at Next to Nature who collaborate with two local organizations to make sure those items help cats in need this holiday season!
