Keller Williams February Artist

Debbie Bianchi
BIO: My current work is a mix of common things in uncommon ways. I love birds, and I have dedicated my most recent series to a family of crows that I feed from my deck. My children and I enjoy watching their social interactions, and sometimes find similarities to human communication styles.I am also inspired by textiles, old and new. I love looking for the latest trends in art and design. It all began with sewing clothes from vintage clothing and other textiles. There was such satisfaction in taking something obsolete and creating something new and fresh. This creative urge continued to progress into painting and many other forms of creative tinkering. After I had my children, my creations took on a more whimsical feel. I work mostly with acrylic and create my paintings from my heart. On canvas, I begin with using paper, vintage texts or stencils for the beginning texture. Sometimes a translucent layer of acrylic is added and then selectively removed in order to reveal the original layer. This can also give an 'encaustic' feel to my work.

ArtsWest February Artists

Isolated Narratives begins February 1st – March 7th, 2009 and includes photographer John Armstrong, mixed media artist Jimm Nawrocki and oil painter Michelle Anderst. Wine and cheese reception with the artists on February 12th from 6-7:30pm. Isolated Narratives was curated specifically to complement the concurrent stage production at ArtsWest, Well (Jan 21 - Feb 15) and its exploration of the dynamics of memory, emotions and irony.
After graduating from Southern Oregon School of Fine Art in 2004, Michelle Anderst moved to Seattle to pursue her career in fine art. Her enigmatic paintings represent the everyday urban scene, usually including figures. The bold use of color and broken planes of existence draw you in to explore these evocative memories in oil. John Armstrong is a Seattle photographer with a keen eye for irony and smart juxtapositions. Often photographing in urban areas, his lush hand-printed black and white photographs provide a little levity and laughter this winter.

Jimm Nawrocki received a BFA from the Chicago Art Institute and has since became a long time resident of West Seattle. East coast sensibilities resound in his expressionist works on paper. Utilizing digital technology, a transformation of ideas and feelings are created by manipulating the color, texture and size of various layers. Contemplative additions of collage elements to the surface of his prints include various found objects, wire and newspaper which give a multi dimensional depth to each image, literally and philosophically.

Cupcake Royal & Verite Coffee Feb Artist

Name: Scott Erickson
Bio:I have been a creator my whole life… but I didn't consider being a "lifer" until my mid-twenties. I was a high school art teacher at the time, and I had this moment during a prep period that I knew that this wasn't it. That there was something else for me to do. I ended up not teaching the next year and focused on trying to make my living as an artist. During this time, I kept having these dreams and visions about creating artwork live along with music, speakers, etc. So I started seeking ways of incorporating the creating of art in public places. That's basically where the Transpire Project has come from. I have a BA in Secondary Art Education from Western Washington University. I learned some art skills there, but most of what I do now was self taught in random attics and free rooms throughout the Seattle area in the last few years. I have been rejected from multiple grad schools and grants even though I make my living as an artist. I light of those rejections, I have painted on multiple continents, throughout the United States, and have had the amazing opportunity to work with so many fantastic artists, organizations, and people that I consider myself a very lucky person.I live with my wife, Holly, and other random people in Seattle.
